For Sale – Champion Bloodline Pekes!

agony aunt

Greetings Fellow Pekies,

Seeing that Monday’s post seemed to hit the nail on the head for so many of you, we decided that today would be a good time to share a post about some pups that a long-time Pekingese Breeder friend of mine who moved her kennel to Gauteng from Cape Town a while back has to sell.

The cute little puppies pictured below are out of Joan Fourie’s kennel, Calmady, and are looking for loving homes and owners that are prepared to love them and be their slaves for life.

The above little beauties are all from Champion and Imported Bloodlines and have been Inoculated, Microchipped and Dewormed. (click on pictures for a bigger view)

All pups are also Kennel Union of South Africa (KUSA) registered.

Please note that pups will only be sold to pre-approved homes.

Please contact Joan on 076 587 6516

PS: More interesting posts specifically about Pekingese coming up over the next few weeks 😉

Until Next time!

Inbreeding & Line-Breeding

agony aunt

Greetings Fellow Pekies,

I hope you all had a great weekend and are relaxed and ready to face whatever the coming week has in store for us all.

We recently received some queries from Pieter,  regarding dental health (which we covered last week), the best dog pellets (which we will be covering in the near future) and inbreeding do’s and do nots.

Today we will be discussing selective breeding, inbreeding and line-breeding in general and with regards to Pekingese, and trust that this article will answer all your questions, Pieter.

Responsible breeders will consider the health of their puppies to be a priority, increasing the probability that healthy puppies will go on to live long and happy lives. One of the many important factors to take into account is the impact of inbreeding and how best to preserve genetic diversity, not only for the health of the next litter of puppies, but also for the health of the population as a whole.

Unfortunately, due to unscrupulous dog-breeders and their obsession to create the “perfect dog,” many breeds are being slowly disfigured, often in unbearable ways.
